Kids don’t always have the words for what they’re feeling.
That’s why we’re excited to share a new collaboration with The Moodsters Children’s Foundation. Together, we’re bringing The Moodsters’ evidence-based emotional learning content to PlaySpace helping children build emotional literacy in ways that are fun, engaging, and age-appropriate.
For more than 35 years, The Moodsters have supported children’s emotional well-being through stories, characters, and play-based learning. Their work helps kids understand and manage big emotions like sadness, fear, anger, love, happiness, anxiety, and hope.
“These colorful characters are effective because they speak the language of children: play,” said Denise Daniels, RN, MS, Creator and Founder of The Moodsters Children’s Foundation. She shared that this partnership opens a new chapter for engaging kids with The Moodsters’ characters and curriculum in PlaySpace’s digital environment, helping more children understand their emotions and build resilience.
The Moodsters’ curriculum was developed in collaboration with Marc Brackett, PhD, and Robin Stern, PhD, and aligns closely with the RULER approach from the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence.
Our goal is simple: turn trusted emotional learning content into interactive experiences clinicians can use in virtual sessions.
As part of this collaboration, The Moodsters’ portfolio, including storybooks and educational resources like Guidelines for Grownups, will be available in PlaySpace through digital, gamified activities designed to support:
PlaySpace clinicians will be able to incorporate Moodsters characters into their sessions, creating moments where kids can explore emotions through play.
“PlaySpace was built to solve the engagement gap mental health providers face with children, and The Moodsters are a perfect fit for this mission,” said Matt Cohen, CEO of PlaySpace Health. “The Moodsters represent exactly the kind of trusted, evidence-based content that therapists, educators, and healthcare professionals need.”
We’re just getting started. This collaboration is the foundation for a growing set of PlaySpace experiences designed to help children build emotional skills that stick.
More soon.
