Let’s Talk About It: 3 PlaySpace Games To Help Open Up

Virtual play therapy opens up fresh and creative paths to connect while working on therapeutic goals. PlaySpace offers games that make it easier for clients to open up,  express themselves and build trust in a fun way. Here are three favourites that help clients talk, listen, and reflect during play.

Coping Cards: Learning About Emotions Together

Coping Cards is a multiplayer matching game where players flip cards to find pairs. Each matched pair reveals a coping skill you might use to calm down, feel better, or deal with tough emotions.

As you play, there are lots of moments to pause and ask questions:
“Have you tried this before?”
“What does this feel like for you?”The game gives players the space to learn from each other without pressure, making it easier for clients to open up.

Dino Dash: Teamwork and Communication in Action

Dino Dash is a multiplayer game where players guide dinosaurs through puzzles by placing bombs and dodging obstacles. It’s exciting, silly, and full of teamwork moments. It requires players to think quickly on their feet, and is very useful in observing how clients communicate without words through their actions. Do they help each other? Do they take turns? Do they notice when someone’s struggling? This game reveals social skills like patience and impulse control on top of ongoing communication.

Slushie Flow: Thinking Through Problems

Slushie Flow is a solo player game with a simple goal: draw a path to guide the slushie into a cup using gravity. But the challenge is all in the planning, which is a great opportunity to connect and communicate.

Even though the client plays alone, this game supports communication by inviting clients to explain their choices. You can ask questions like “What made you pick this path?” or “What surprised you while playing?” This helps clients reflect on their thinking, decision-making, and explore how they handle frustration or change their plans.

Why These Games Matter for Therapy

Each game highlights communication in different ways.

They’re more than just fun. These games help clients practice how they communicate, handle emotions, and relate to others. At PlaySpace, we believe play is a powerful part of therapy, and we’re here to help you bring that power into every session.
